Licinius I, 308-324. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.59 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 320. IMP LI-CINIVS AVG Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Licinius I to right. Rev. VOT X / ET XV F / R Q in three lines within wreath. RIC -. Extremely rare, one of only two known examples. Minor deposits and with light cleaning scratches, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

This extremely rare coin is one of two known examples from officina Q, both of which reside in the Ramskold Collection. The wreath is particularly interesting, of a type introduced during the tetrarchy, but neither oak nor laurel. Each Roman wreath type had a special meaning but the significance of this type is unknown.
